Internet Safety

Internet Safety is a significant issue due to the wideuse of the internet by individuals of all ages. While the internet is an incredibly useful tool, it may also be dangerous if online guidelines are not enforced. As a teacher, I would want all my students to enjoy the internet, but also be aware of their online actions. It was alarming during Jeff's presentation to hear how often online predators abuse young children, and even more alarming to understand how difficult it can be to catch these predators. The only way to stop dangerous online activity is to teach our kids to be safe when using the internet. It was shocking to see how much personal information one can learn about another individual in a chat room or blog. It is definately important for all internet users to limit the information they post about themselves online, as they can lead an online predator literally to their doorstep.
